WHEREAS the Country Club Wrestling Association of America has maintained standards of elegance since our founding by Douglas Smith Jr. at Druid Hills Golf Club in 1953;

WHEREAS recent championship events have witnessed an alarming decline in proper attire standards, including but not limited to: polo shirts (unacceptable), athletic wear (unconscionable), and in one documented case at the 2019 Palm Desert Regional, a Hawaiian shirt (the member in question has since been counseled);

WHEREAS the blazer represents not merely clothing but membership, belonging, and the sacred bond between wrestler and spectator;

BE IT RESOLVED that all audience members attending CCWAA-sanctioned championship matches shall be required to wear a blazer, sport coat, or formal jacket of appropriate quality and condition.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that members without proper attire may be provided a "loaner blazer" from the CCWAA Archives Collection. Dry cleaning fees of $47 shall apply. The Committee notes that loaner blazers date from various eras and may carry "historical character" (mothball scent).

The loaner blazer program saved my dignity at the 1998 Vegas championship when my luggage was lost. Yes, the blazer was from 1972. Yes, it had bell-bottom matching pants that I declined. Yes, I found a betting slip in the pocket from a horse named 'Champagne Problems' (he lost). But I was PROPERLY ATTIRED and that's what matters. Support this motion!

I'm genuinely torn on this one. On one hand, tradition is the backbone of our organization. On the other hand, my lucky wrestling-watching cardigan has never let me down—I've witnessed 14 championship matches in that cardigan and my chosen competitor has won 11 of them. Can cardigans count as blazers if they have shoulder pads and I sew on some brass buttons? Asking for a friend (me).

I support elegance in THEORY, but have you actually SEEN the loaner blazers? I tried one at the 2019 regionals and it smelled like mothballs, regret, and what I can only describe as 'vintage ambition.' The shoulder pads were so aggressive I couldn't fit through the restroom door. There was a corsage pinned to the lapel that appeared to be from 1976. Hard pass.

Finally! I've been advocating for this since the Reagan administration. At the 1987 Botox Beatdown in Palm Springs, I witnessed a man in a POLO SHIRT seated ringside. I nearly fainted into my martini. When I complained to the usher, he said 'ma'am, this is a Wendy's.' It was NOT a Wendy's. It was the Palm Springs Country Club auxiliary gymnasium. Standards matter, people!
